I-26 Connector Updates 2018-2025

This week, elected officials received a DOT analysis of changes in the I-26 Connector project from 2018-2025. The analysis includes 25 points representing 25 areas on the maps.

The I-26 Connector will alter neighborhoods, take homes, and change how our city moves. Asheville and DOT have legacies of devastating interstate expansion, causing harm especially to historic Black neighborhoods, working-class home and business owners, and our natural resources still healing from Hurricane Helene.

There have been thousands of hours of community organizing and advocacy to improve and mitigate the harm of this interstate expansion project. There is more work to do to make it better and less damaging to our community, economy, and ecosystem!
